I specialise in bespoke programming using PHP and MySQL, but have a large range of skills and experience to draw from.
Programming
My interest in programming began on my 7th birthday in 1981. I was given a ZX81 home computer, with a whole 1kb of memory. Many hours were spent copying scripts out of magazines, editing them to make them more interesting, only to find out a colon had been missed out on line 7 and I'd have to start over. With each new technology, we'd get a new computer.
BSc Mathematics
I studied Mathematics at university, following A-levels in Pure, Applied and Further Mathematics. Had Computer Studies been an acceptable choice for a young woman from a Girls Grammar school in the early 1990s, no doubt that would have been my preference.
Web Design
I began designing websites in 2000, initially as a hobby to occupy the sleepness nights with our daughter. I took a course at our local education centre a year later, received lots of requests for freelance work, but took the decision to work full time for a web design company.
Freelancing
I started freelancing in my spare time whilst working full time for a local web design company, built up a small client base, worked out the figures and took a blind leap of faith into the world of self-employment.
A lot of my work is behind the scenes for larger web design companies who outsource their more complex projects.
